  • "appropriate Indesign version for this document is not installed"

After previously working on an InDesign/DirectSmile job this week, our graphics staff can no longer open Indesign documents working with DS nor can they start new ones working with DS. Image of the error is attached. DirectSmileGenerator is running as administrator. They have tried setting defaults to other versions of InDesign in the job preferences with no results. Anyone else having similar problems suddenly?

    Hello,

In the DSM-Job window, please click on the Job tab and go to Job preferences. Under the InDesign tab, please select the radio button for the version of InDesign you are using and try again.

If it still occurs, please make sure that both EFI VDP and InDesign's Privilege level is set to "Run this program as an administrator" by right-clicking on their executables and going to Properties > Compatiblity > Privilege Level > click on "Change Settings for all users" button > make sure check box is ticked for "Run this program as an administrator" and click "Apply" and "OK".

If that still doesn't help, I would recommend updating to the latest version of EFI VDP by uninstalling the DirectSmile Generator through Control Panel > Programs and Features and then performing the following steps:

While in Programs and Features please also uninstall any Microsoft Access Database Engines if any then download and install the 32-Bit Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable:
    https://download.microsoft.com/downl...baseEngine.exe

I hope this helps you! If not, please create a Support case in the EFI Customer Care portal.

    Kind regards,
    Eric
